Position Available: Solutions Support Engineer
The successful applicant will work as part of a team to install, implement and support our business solutions at clients' sites. Implementations will require the business experience, technical skills, and attitude to work effectively with The Information Store staff and, after a period of training in The Information Store's PetroTrek® technology, work closely with clients on-site.
Job Responsibilities
- Capture client business priorities and needs
- Install and implement appropriate business solutions utilizing Information Store products
- Contribute to The Information Store development and solution plans, based upon client input.
The successful applicant would be expected to work on an early assignment in the U.S. - as part of the training process - and work on-site with clients wherever installation and implementation is required.
Skills Required
As Information Store products use new flexible technologies, candidates would be expected to be able to learn new technologies and products quickly. In particular, we are looking for the following key skills and experience.
Business and Information Engineering skills
- Business Understanding It is essential that applicants have sufficient business experience to be able to identify our clients' key business objectives and priorities for any implementation.
- Business Process Design They also need to be able to capture and document business processes, and subsequently implement our solutions to support these processes.
- Data Design Key component of our systems implementation is the ability to capture the key data needed to support a business process, and design an approach to accessing the relevant data for the implementation.
- PetroTrek Configuration Using the above skills, the successful candidate will receive training in how to configure and extend our technology to support clients' business processes.
Information Technology Skills
- Database Technology A level of exposure to all aspects of ORACLE DBMS installation, maintenance and application installation is essential. Proficiency in SQL, DML and PLSQL.
- Unix/NT Operating Systems Use of Unix and Windows/NT as a user or system administrator is essential. Those with rich experience of both technologies would be at an advantage.
- Web Server Technology Some knowledge of web server technology would be a distinct advantage. Proficiency in HTML.
- Programming Language Business programming experience using C#, C/C , Java, JavaScript, Perl, Tcl, VB or some other programming language.
Preferred Experience
Successful candidates would be a graduate with at least 5-10 years experience in an Oil Company or Oil Service supplier, either as user or supplier of systems. They would have had exposure to operational use of database technology in a business environment.
